Tongkat Ali (Eurycoma longifolia Jack) aka Malaysian ginseng and Longjack is one of my favorite natural male enhancement herbs. In today’s article, I share the best Tongkat Ali dosage for men who want optimal gains in the gym and increased energy in the sack.
Most companies market Tongkat Ali as a testosterone booster in a 200:1 concentrated powder.
I’ve thoroughly tested the 200:1 ratio powder and have had quite a good time on several dates after taking it. Aside from the fun part, I’ve also noticed a load of physical benefits without negative side effects.
Tongkat Ali is one of the few herbs I’ve experimented with that must be taken in a concentrated form. Typically, I prefer to take herbs in their whole form in larger doses, but Longjack is different, and it can be difficult to find a trustworthy source.
The important part – as I’ve mentioned with all herbs – is to cycle it with other natural male enhancement herbs to avoid building up a tolerance.
Let’s jump into the most important part first.
What is the best Tongkat Ali 200:1 dosage for bodybuilding?
I encapsulated my own powder using vegetarian “00” capsules and found that 1 capsule in the morning and 1 at night roughly 12 hours apart treated me the best.
Each “00” capsule contains from 600 – 750 mg.
This dosage for up to a week straight gives me consistent results without losing effectiveness.
This regimen took my libido to the highest level it’s ever been, and my performance in the bedroom was sky-high.
As for the muscle gains, I gained about 4 kilograms during the cycling regimen period with just 3 to 4 gym sessions per week.
You don’t want to consume Tongkat Ali powder outside of the capsules because it tastes fiercely bitter, and it’s impossible to mask the taste. I recommend eating at least one meal with fatty animal protein or healthy oils – such as steak and potatoes – before taking Longjack.
Here’s what I used to encapsulate the Longjack:
To recap: The best Tongkat Ali dosage for me is 1 “00” capsule in the morning and 1 “00” capsule at night 12 hours apart for up to one week before cycling the next herb or cordyceps.
I’ve seen companies recommend 5 days on, then 2 days off before starting again.
In my experience, 2 days isn’t long enough for my body to “unlearn” or wash out an herb before starting again. I like to take at least 2 to 3 weeks off and use a different herb to keep my body operating at its peak round the clock.
I’ve been able to go for long stretches of months without building up a tolerance to any of my libido boosters.
After a few months, I go cold turkey to allow my body to “reset” completely.
Tongkat Ali Benefits
Before taking any herb, it’s important to research it to confirm if the science is there to back it up.
In the case of Longjack, there are studies proving its effectiveness.
One study on PubMed including 32 moderately-stressed men discovered the following Tongkat Ali benefits:
- Reduced cortisol levels (-16%) and increased testosterone levels (+37%)
- A reduction in anger
- A reduction in tension
The key takeaway is that Longjack has a positive effect on a man’s stress hormone profile, which explains the long list of benefits.
Many people experience a libido boost, better sleep, more energy, an increased feeling of well-being, more power/strength in the gym, and more stamina in the bedroom.
My Longjack Review
In my case, I noticed an overall increase in vitality and sex drive the most.
Similar to cordyceps, Tongkat Ali improved my performance in the bedroom.
It gave me more energy in the gym, which led to longer, more productive workouts.
During my run of cycling herbs, my body took on a more cut appearance. I noticed less belly fat and more mass at my shoulders.
At one point in my adult life, I weighed just 125 lbs. During my period of cycling herbs including Tongkat Ali, I jumped up to 150 lbs.
This happened before I got more serious in the gym. Currently, I weigh 159 lbs and my most ever was 166 lbs in 2018.
I’m not jacked, but you can imagine the difference between 125 lbs and 150 while I was taking Longjack.
And last but not least, I notice an increase in blood flow to my manhood on Longjack, which results in a larger size without using any of those fancy gadgets kids use these days.
As for Tongkat Ali side effects, I haven’t experienced any negative side effects with this herb.
The key is to take an encapsulated version of Longjack after you’ve eaten at least one meal that day because this stuff is super bitter.
Taking it on an empty stomach could easily upset the stomach.
I also like to take all my libido-boosting herbs with green tea.
I’ve noticed when I take my herbs with green tea, the effects are stronger, plus they kick in faster. There’s a definite synergy between green tea and herbs in my experience.
If you’re a coffee drinker, you may find that taking Longjack with coffee gives you the same effect I get with green tea.
Best Tongkat Ali supplement/Where to Buy
If you want to save money in the long run, the best route to take is the one I mentioned above, encapsulate your own.
Click here for a legit 200:1 powder with 100s of five-star reviews at Amazon.
One 100-gram bag of Tongkat Ali will last you quite a long time, especially if you choose to cycle it with other herbal aphrodisiacs.
For those of you who don’t want to encapsulate your own or choke down this bitter herb without the capsules, click here for a top-notch bottled brand.
And since the brand above is pricey, I did some more research and discovered a more budget-friendly brand that looks legit – click here to check it out.
I’ve used the Bulk Supplements 100:1 variety with success, and it’s also quite affordable.
Is Tongkat Ali safe?
There is always – and should always be – concern about how a supplement may affect your kidney and liver functions.
The key to taking any herbal supplement is to reap the benefits without damaging the body’s major filtering systems.
In the United States, Tongkat is “generally recognized as safe” or GRAS – an FDA rating.
In my case, I’ve experienced no negative side effects, and it’s been over four years since I first tried Tongkat Ali.
One 15-week study including 13 male recreational athletes found no negative effects on the participants’ renal or liver functions at the conclusion of the study.
The men took 400 mg/day for 6 weeks, then a 3-week washout period followed by another 6-week run of 400 mg/day.
While 400 mg/daily is a small dose compared to what I typically take and companies recommend on their labels, it’s promising to see no negative side effects at the 400 mg dose.
It’s also important to note that I experience no withdrawal or “comedown” symptoms after I stop taking Longjack.
Only when I go cold turkey after multiple months of cycling herbs do I experience a mild “comedown.” I’ve been through much, much worse comedowns and hangovers back when I used to party a lot.
Overall, there’s no evidence suggesting Tongkat Ali is unsafe if used responsibly and in moderation.
It’s important to keep in mind that 200:1 is a powerful extraction ratio, therefore the reason why just 1 “00” capsule is all I need when I take Longjack.
With most other herbs and cordyceps, I take 2 “00” capsules up to three times per day.
What is Tongkat Ali?
For those of you who want to know more about this wonderful herb, here’s a quick summary of what Longjack is.
It’s a flowering plant found throughout Indochina (including Malaysia), which is how it got it’s name Malaysian ginseng.
Another reliable source of Longjack is Indonesia.
The Bulk Supplements brand I mentioned above is harvested from the roots of trees in Indonesia before being concentrated into a 100:1 ratio.
It’s important to note that I felt the benefits of the 100:1 concentration; a lot of companies claim only the 200:1 ratio works, but this wasn’t the case for me.
The shrub-like plant can grow up to 33 feet in height without growing branches.
Another name for Longjack in Southeast Asia is “pasak bumi.”
In Asian countries including Vietnam, Indonesia, and Malaysia, the locals boil the roots of the plant and drink it as a tonic for several ailments and as an aphrodisiac.
The flowers and fruits are used by the Vietnamese to treat dysentery and other stomach ailments.
Overall, I like having Tongkat Ali in my herbal aphrodisiac arsenal because the results I’ve achieved are the real deal.
The best part is I’ve experienced consistent results with Tongkat Ali after the brief introductory phase.
I’ve noticed over the years, my body must “learn” a new herb before I experience the benefits. This happened during my testing with horny goat weed. The first few times I took it, it didn’t work, then bam, it made my libido skyrocket when I stacked it with Eleuthero root.
Longjack began working for me after just 2-3 days of taking it.
After cycling it with other herbs for two months, I noticed an overall boost in vitality, sex drive, mood, concentration, productivity, and motivation, with the added bonus of a leaner appearance, especially around the waist. I also noticed increased definition around my shoulders.
I will undoubtedly keep Longjack in my herb stash for years to come.
And as always, please refer to my disclaimers because I’m not a doctor, just a guy who enjoys enhancing my life through the power of herbs and sharing my experiences with others.
